Starting out as a young teenager in the early 90's Ian was inspired and directed into music by Seattle's swarm of super successes like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. However his true passion for songwriting and lyrical content came into full bloom when he discovered the legends who became his teachers and influences. At the top of this list of mentors is the 60's songwriting icon Bob Dylan, followed by artists such as Neil Young, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Tom Petty and more recent successes REM, Elliott Smith, Lou Barlow and Beck. Ian has received acclaim; including an honorable mention in the Great American Songwriter Awards, for his 3rd album Alchemist. The album pays homage to what Blake described in an interview as "A book that saved my life"...
Written about in music publications throughout the country and across the Atlantic, Ian was featured in an article titled The Re-emergence of the New York Singer/Songwriter where he was described as "... one of New York's best kept secrets.." -tho it's starting to get out...
